As a birthing mother you are...
INTUITIVE
Your intuition has been the driving force through your pregnancy and will be your true guide during birth. As your doula, I value your intuition over anything else. If there was just one tool needed at any birth, it would be the mother’s intuition, and the witness’s ability to trust it. Your intuition will know better than anyone what you need to safely birth your baby into the world.
CONNECTED
Your connection with your baby, your partner, and yourself is highly valued. You are deeply connected to the earth and are grounded. You have a deep understanding of how you want your birth experience to be, and you deserve it to be so. As your doula, I strive to form a deep connection with you, so that I understand how to best support you in labor and birth.
MAGICAL
You are magical. There is mystical intelligence inside of every one of yours and your baby’s cells. There is so much magic to reflect on in both pregnancy and birth. Your body knows how to conceive, nourish, and grow, your baby. Then when it’s time, your magical body knows how to bring them earthside. As your doula, I value the sacred and magical wisdom of your body.
"A woman in birth is at once her most powerful, and most vulnerable. But any woman who has birthed unhindered understands that we are stronger than we know."
Marcie Macari

What is a birth doula?
Doulas are women who provide emotional and physical support for women in labor and birth. Doulas help educate mothers and partners about the various types of monitoring, testing, and procedures a regulated care provider may request to perform. They then help the mother make educated and informed decisions on how they want their birth experience to be. A doula is not a medical professional and does not make decisions for the mother in labor, birth or the immediate postpartum.

The top scale represents the true value of my services, in the absence of a sliding scale. For more information on a sliding scale, please visit A Quick Guide to the Sliding Scale (written by Worts and Cunning Apothecary)
I take at least one non-paying client per year as I believe finances should not get in the way of a mother who needs support. Please contact me if you feel this may be you.

Hear What Mothers Say
"Laura supported me during pregnancy. She traveled to my town before my due date and stayed with me until birth. She was a great roommate prior to labor.. friendly, clean, quiet, and gave me space. She helped with the birth pool, nutrition, hydration and reassurance of my husband. She has great knowledge of homeopathy and natural remedies which greatly reduced my anxiety. She has a calm, confidence that is soothing. She never pressed her own beliefs on me, instead she would ask me how I felt so I could come to my own decision. Laura supported my decisions. She fully believed in my ability to birth my baby and held space beautifully. Her presence alone gave me confidence. She gave me space during labor, but was near when I needed her for emotional support or counter pressure. She helped keep me hydrated and helped with anything else my husband asked. She did not interfere or intervene unless asked. I had a beautiful, natural birth. She helped with cleanup, and my recovery the following day. I felt like I had known her forever. I am so glad I allowed her into my birth space. She will forever be a part of my son's birth story and my family."

Do birth doulas attend hospital births?
Many doulas do attend hospital births. At this time, I do not attend women in hospital births as the risk of unnecessary intervention is too high.
What is included in the 3 Prenatal Tea Dates?
In the Prenatal Tea Dates, we have the opportunity to talk about anything you desire, regardless of its relation to pregnancy or birth. The intention behind Prenatal Tea Dates is to build connection, trust, and compassion with one another, so that when it comes time for birth, I already know how to best support you.
After I serve some herbal tea, we have the opportunity to discuss various topics such as: creating your ideal birth vision, unpacking any fears or concerns related to birth, educating you on various procedures your midwife may want to perform, preparing for the postpartum, and more!

If you are farther than 50miles away, I ask that we please meet somewhere in the middle for our meet-ups.
What does a doula do at a birth?
Birth doulas provide emotional and physical support for women in labor and birth. This might look like: helping you change labor positions, providing pain relief hip squeezes, reassuring your strength, offering breathing techniques, making sure the room is warm, making sure you are hydrated and fed, and much more!
How far will a doula travel to a birth?
Each birth doula is different. As a doula, I attend births for no extra fee within 100 miles of my location. Please contact me if this would best suit you.
